Stony Brook Cooperative Field Report: Edgewater Strategies Ensures Quality in the Final Tasks of a Water System Interconnection Project

On June 11, 2025, Edgewater Strategies was on-site at the Stony Brook Cooperative in Rochester, NH, to conduct a field inspection and site meeting. Our Owner and site Resident Project Representative, Abby Fopiano, met with contractors to review progress, evaluate site conditions, and document the next steps needed to keep the project moving towards the finish line. This project entailed connecting a long running small community water system to a larger municipal water system.

What Was Reviewed On-Site

The day’s focus was on several key areas of infrastructure maintenance and restoration:

  • Old Valve Pits
Crews  inventoried 14 aging valve pits across the cooperative property that need to be decommissioned. Edgewater will be preparing full documentation of these, while contractor Lyman will handle the physical filling in of the structures. Some valve pits are in challenging, hard-to-reach areas, which will require careful planning before work begins. these pits were to be decommissioned they no longer connect to active water lines.

  • Grass Establishment
The team also checked on grass regrowth around the site to ensure disturbed areas are being restored properly after construction activity.

  • Pavement Back-Up and Materials
Pavement edges were reviewed. The material is being rolled and compacted to provide a long-lasting, stable edge.

Why Edgewater’s Oversight Matters

While some of these tasks may look routine, Edgewater Strategies plays a critical role in ensuring they are handled correctly, completely, and with long-term performance in mind:

  • Documentation & Accountability
Edgewater’s detailed field reports create a record for the cooperative, tracking not only what work was done but also the condition of the site before, during, and after construction. This ensures the cooperative has a clear paper trail for future reference.

  • Quality Assurance
From evaluating gravel mixes to checking how pavement is backed up, Edgewater ensures contractors are using the right materials and proper techniques. This protects against premature failures that could cost the cooperative more down the road.

Building Better Community Infrastructure

The work at Stony Brook Cooperative is about strengthening the reliability and safety of the entire community’s water and roadway system.

By being on-site, asking the right questions, and documenting the details, Edgewater Strategies helps turn small tasks into long-term solutions that protect the cooperative’s investment and peace of mind.
